Basic Handgun Details

Course Details:

A course designed to develop the fundamanetal principles of utilizing a handgun in real world situations. This class will provide students with a basic understanding of how to safely handle, function and shoot a handgun, with an emphasis placed on gun safety and safe handling techniques. Perfect for new or novice shooters, this is a low-stress course that instills comfort and confidence with a handgun.

Equipment Required:

Handgun with spare magazines. Proper eye and ear protection.

Prerequisites:

Students must be 21 years or older and be able to lawfully possess a firearm.

Ammunition:

Available for purchase (Must call ahead for stock)

Attire and what to bring:

Since this is a remote location, we recommend proper field attire/tactical. Wear pants that have belt loops and a belt. No open toes shoes. Dress to be outdoors in the environment for long periods of time. Bring water/fluids for hydration, hats recommended, bug spray and sunscreen if needed.

Range courses note:

This course is being held at a remote location. Please wear appropriate clothing, hat and footwear. BRING WATER. Latrines will be provided on the range.

C.O.R.E. Handgun I Details

C.O.R.E. Handgun I introduce you to the tactical application of modern handgun defense. This ambitious course focuses on personal safety, handgun manipulation under stress, various shooting positions, and use of cover. This course is a prerequisite for all other tactical courses.

Course includes, but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate Safe Gun Handling
  • Demonstrate proper Range Safety Procedures
  • Adhere to, and Respond to Range Commands
  • Demonstrate proper Pistol Marksmanship
  • Explain and Describe the eight steps in the Operational Cycle of a firearm
  • Identify the various types of Pistol Malfunctions
  • Demonstrate proper Immediate Action
  • Demonstrate Drawing and Re-Holstering Techniques
  • Demonstrate proper Loading and Unloading Techniques
  • Demonstrate proper Scanning and Assessing target threat areas
  • Demonstrate Combat, Tactical, Speed and Administrative Reloads
  • Demonstrate the tactical application for Standing – Kneeling – Squatting – and Prone
  • Demonstrate the tactical use of Hard Cover
  • Demonstrate various Firing Techniques
  • Demonstrate Multiple Target Engagement
  • Demonstrate ability to Target Discriminate
  • Demonstrate long range Accuracy Fire with a pistol
  • Demonstrate tactical prowess during Reality-Based Live Fire Scenario

COURSE LEVEL: Novice to Intermediate

COST: $300
(15% discount to active duty / veteran Law Enforcement, Military, and current NRA Members).

LENGTH: 6-hours

TIME: 0900-1600 (lunch break at 1200)

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Handgun with a minimum of 3x magazines
  • Pistol sights (iron, tritium or optical) optics MUST be zeroed prior to attending course.
  • Belt type Holster and pistol Magazine Pouches (no cross-draw or small of the back)
  • Belt (must be able to support handgun, holster and equipment)
  • Dump Pouch
  • Eye Protection (both shaded and clear)
  • Ear Protection (electronic type recommended)
  • Range Attire; comfortable and durable
  • Footwear; durable with lateral support (no open toe or sandals)
  • Ball cap
  • Knee and Elbow Pads (optional)
  • Rain Jacket
  • Small First Aid or Blow Out Kit
  • Weapon Cleaning Kit
  • Hand Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect Repellant
  • Note Taking Material
  • Permanent Black Marker (Sharpie)

C.O.R.E. Handgun II Details

Begin with a review of C.O.R.E. Handgun I techniques. This course will add dimension to your marksmanship repertoire and will further your tactical knowledge with the employment of various shooting platforms and dynamic movement techniques. Mental conditioning is also stressed. A realistic scenario will conclude this period of instruction and will incorporate all skills taught in Handgun I.

  • Understand the fundamentals of Mental Conditioning / Survival Mindset

  • Demonstrate Dynamic Movement
  • Demonstrate Two Person Team Tactical Movement

  • Demonstrate Vehicle Dismounting Techniques & Considerations
  • Final Training Exercise (FTX)

C.O.R.E. Handgun III Details

C.O.R.E Handgun III immerses you into low or reduce light shooting conditions, while incorporating all skills taught in C.O.R.E. Handgun I and II. A realistic scenario will conclude this period of instruction.

Course includes but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate Safe Gun Handling
  • Demonstrate proper Range Safety Procedures
  • Adhere to, and Respond to Range Commands
  • Demonstrate Low Light Shooting Techniques without the aid of a flashlight
  • Demonstrate Reduce Light Shooting Techniques with the aid of a flashlight
  • Final Training Exercise (FTX)

COURSE LEVEL: Intermediate

COST: $350
(15% discount to active duty / veteran Law Enforcement, Military, and current NRA Members).

LENGTH: 4-hours

TIME: 1700-2200 (dinner break at 1900) – times will be adjusted based on daylight savings

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Pistol with 3-5 magazines
  • Pistol sights (iron, tritium or optical) optics MUST be zeroed prior to attending course.
  • Gun Belt with Holster, Magazine Pouches (no cross draw or small of the back)
  • Handheld Flashlight (mandatory)
  • Pistol Mounted Light (optional)
  • Knee and Elbow pads (optional)
  • Weapon cleaning kit (with Oil for guns.)
  • Rain or inclement weather gear
  • Eye and Ear protection (clear lens)
  • Water / Snacks / Electrolytes (We will take an hour dinner break before it gets dark)
  • Ball Cap
  • Insect Repellent
  • Mosquito Jacket (optional)
  • Spare Batteries for Optics and Lights
  • Note Taking Material
  • Black Sharpie Marker (indelible).
